Dental Veneers In Edmonton
DENTAL VENEERS
What are Dental Veneers?
You may have heard the term ‘dental veneer’ before, but what are they exactly?
A veneer is a thin piece of material, usually constructed out of a durable porcelain, used to cover the front teeth to improve their appearance.
Unlike restorations that cover your teeth (crowns) or fill in decay (fillings), a main reason of dental veneers are for cosmetic purposes. They are fixed, or permanently bonded to your tooth.
Are Dental Veneers Right For Me?
Dental veneers are used for teeth that may have flaws such as:
Discoloration (possibly after a root canal)
Are Worn Down
Have Natural Gaps
Are Chipped or Broken Down
Are Uneven or Are Irregularly Shaped
If you have any of these conditions, contact Sky Dental to request a consultation. Your Edmonton dentist will diagnose and treatment plan your specific case with you so that you can achieve your best smile.
They will make your natural teeth look both whiter and straighter. We can specify the exact shape and size of each “tooth”, pairing veneers side by side for a complete smile transformation.
Worried about your new veneers not matching your current smile? Not to worry! Our close communication and relationship with our lab allows us to perfectly match any veneer or crown to your current, natural smile.
Procedure for Dental Veneers
Step 1:
Consultation with your Edmonton dentist. Reserve an appointment to discuss what your smile goals are, sharing your expectations including what color your want your new teeth to be, and asking any questions you may have.
Step 2:
Prepare yourself for some time in the dental chair. Your dentist likes to take their time to ensure everything goes perfectly. In this case, a bit of OCD is in your favor to ensure the best results!
A very thin layer of your enamel is removed so the thin veneer can replace it. An impression is taken and sent to the dental lab for fabrication. You will be fitted with a set of temporaries until the permanent veneers arrive from the clinic in about 1-2 weeks.
Step 3:
Your veneers have finally arrived! They will be tried in for fit, after careful removal of the temporaries. Once checked, they will need to be bonded to your teeth using a very specific protocol.
Step 4:
Enjoy your new smile!
Caring For Your Veneers
Like dental crowns, veneers require daily brushing and flossing to ensure a tight seal along your tooth. If you’re prone to teeth grinding, you’ll also want to invest in a nightguard or splint to reduce the chances of fractures.
Staining can occur at the margin interfaces of where the veneer meets your tooth, so make sure you’re brushing, flossing, and rinsing with water after staining-drinks such as wine, tea, or coffee!
